WE2806 4G LTE Router: Building Resilient Connectivity for Distributed Business Sites
For distributed businesses, a router is no longer judged only by peak speed. The more important test is whether a branch, payment terminal or remote device can stay reachable when its primary connection fails.
The WE2806 combines cellular backhaul, Ethernet WAN, local networking and link-management functions in a compact platform built for practical edge deployments.

Network resilience
The business case for a second path
A single broadband line creates a single operational dependency. When it fails, payments, monitoring and remote support may stop with it. The WE2806 supports WAN failover and load balancing, allowing integrators to design around more than one available route.
Failover moves traffic to an alternative connection when the preferred link becomes unavailable. Load balancing distributes traffic according to policy. Both can limit the operational impact of one failed access method.
Hardware and control
A practical platform for distributed sites
The MT7628AN-based WE2806 provides one 10/100Mbps WAN port and three 10/100Mbps LAN ports. Its 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n radio has a maximum theoretical rate of 300Mbps. Actual performance depends on the LTE module, carrier network, signal conditions, interference and client mix.
The platform supports OpenWrt and ZBT OS. Published functions include DHCP, static routing, port forwarding, system logs, VPN, NTP, access controls and cloud management, supporting repeatable configurations across multiple sites.
DEPLOYMENT LOGIC
Primary Ethernet WAN → WE2806 policy control → cellular backup → wired and Wi-Fi devices. The commercial value is application continuity, not redundancy as a checkbox.
Where the platform fits
- Retail: backup access for payments and inventory systems.
- Remote equipment: cellular backhaul, VPN and remote management.
- Temporary sites: fast deployment before fixed broadband is available.
- OEM projects: a configurable base for standardised solutions.
Procurement
“Global LTE” still requires local validation
LTE bands, carrier certification and network policies vary by market. Buyers should confirm target countries and operators, Mini-PCIe modem, SIM and antenna configuration, failover policy, installation conditions and order volume before rollout.
